As the ice slowly retreats, the ducks have returned. A male mallard is sleeping on the ice, while a male and female Goldeneye are splashing in the water. The Goldeneyes are bad parents, but have the cutest babies! As I watched them this morning, I realised how cyclic life is. Most of the time they follow the same path over and over. Rarely do they deviate. The mallards have been coming to this lake for decades. First, because the original owner fed them for hunting. Later, because mum continued feeding them for fun. None of the other ducks come up to the house for food, but they do nest here. I am so eager to get the kayak out again-just need to wait for our side of the lake to melt! Enjoying the blessings found in patterns.
