At first I was a bit disappointed in this shot. I didn’t mean to blur the flower and focus on the leaf. As I looked at it, however, I realised how much of life was in this picture. The floating flower is at its prime and is showing off in the water. Yet, it is what is behind the flower that comes into focus. Looking further, you see another lily on the cusp of death, preparing to seed the lake for a new season. It was beautiful drifting thru the lily pads in the kayak in the sun. There are not too many flowers left out there, but the ones that are seemed like dollops of gold dropped from the sky to the surface of the lake. I love summer in Alaska and the blessings you can find in things as simple as lilies and their pads.
